Management System and development of necessary sale maps using ARCGIS; and ensuring that the conditions of the timber sale agreements are not violated such as the cutting of unmarked trees, leaving an area littered, and unnecessary damage to unmarked trees during regular inspections of all assigned sales. This position may be required to assist with Forest Inventory Analysis (FIA) work.

Conducts the annual forest inventory, including stand description of various timber stand conditions for the purpose of describing present stand conditions and prescribing recommendations for silvicultural and other treatments. Performs an analysis of the data using current state lands inventory computer programs and prepares the stand data for the state lands resource analysis coordinator.

Provides wildfire and emergency response support as directed. Assists in the development of smoke management, wildfire prevention, prescribed fire, pre-suppression burning plans, and hazardous fuels mitigation. Assists in the enforcement of Florida’s open burning laws and regulations.

Assists the Forestry Supervisor and the Forest Area Supervisor with the planning, implementation, and coordination of the prescribed burning program on ECSF. Participates in the implementation of prescribed burning on ECSF and other forests as needed.

Maintains all GIS and the geo-data base of the forest. Assists in the detection and control of insect and disease attacks on forestland, including the administration of the forest–wide salvage sale. Assists in the planning, implementation, and coordination of reforestation, timber stand improvement, infrastructure, and recreation on ECSF.

Performs other related work as assigned, which may include the handling of revenue.
