Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills

Responsible for assisting with county land management, forestry and timber programs. Provides technical and professional assistance to the district foresters, staff forester and other land department staff.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry or Forest Management or other similar natural resources degree (must attach transcript) completed prior to hire date.

OR

  • Associate degree in Forestry or Forest Management or other similar natural resources degree (must attach transcript) 

AND 

  • 1 year forestry work experience to include any combination of the following: 
    • Timber sale preparation
    • Timber sale administration
    • OR forest inventory
  • Experience, either through work or education, with GIS and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
  • Successfully pass a pre-placement screen, contingent upon a job offer
  • Obtain a MN non-commercial pesticide applicator’s license within one year of employment
  • Obtain MN DNR ATV certification and snowmobile certification within 6 months of employment
