The Opportunity

MIMTA is seeking a qualified candidate to join the team in Louisiana, based out of our DeRidder, LA office. This position supports forest management operations on approximately 120,000 acres in Southwestern Louisiana. Daily assignments are performed in a friendly team environment alongside a diverse group of foresters, managers, and administrative personnel. 

Candidates will be considered for either Forester or Associate Forester depending on their experience, education, and qualifications. Salary will be commensurate with the level at which the candidate is hired. 

 
Key Activities of the position include:

  • Assisting delivered timber harvesting operations including planning, harvest layout, contract administration, timber security, quality inspections and reporting. Developing site specific silviculture prescriptions, planning, budgeting, and implementing all applicable operations.
  • Administering local reforestation programs to ensure successful plantations are reestablished that meet or exceed growth expectations.
  • Update inventory and mapping software in conjunction with resource support personnel.
  • Asset protection, working with external consultants, contractors and state agency personnel to ensure casualty losses are minimized.
  • Work with HFM Recreational License Administrators, hunters, and other recreational users to ensure license compliance and improve non-timber revenue.
  • Participate in special projects to add diversity and broaden skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ forest management experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable with company’s commercial carrier.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn and apply key financial concepts to business decisions.
  • Must be a great teammate and have strong communication.
  • Client service oriented.
  • Complete drug testing requirement and comply to company’s drug and alcohol policy.
