Job Description:

You will serve the Indiana Army National Guard (INARNG) as a Forester, providing specialized, technical knowledge to the INARNG. You will implement the forestry components of the INARNG’s Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP). Generally, day to day efforts will focus on forest resources within the ~34,250- acre Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC) and the ~1,000-acre Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Plan, develop and administer forestry programs which frequently involve federal, state and local agencies and private individuals/businesses.
  • Manage and assist in the collection of forest resource data for state and federal programs.
  • Provide specialized guidance and coordination in area of expertise, making recommendations to agency/division heads for program objectives.
  • Contract Administration as it relates to TSI, timber sales, reforestation, etc.
  • Program budget development and implementation.
  • Work plan development and implementation/supervision.
  • Lead in the training and employee development of lower-level employees.
  • Research new and existing programs and literature for use in the program planning.
  • Prepares and delivers oral and written reports and presentations interpreting the results of inventory data.
