Currently, our Oregon Forestry District has an opening for a qualified District Forester to help manage the Company’s timberlands in Oregon. The successful applicant is expected to work out of our Oregon District offices located in either Eugene or Roseburg, Oregon.About the PositionImplement all aspects of the timber harvest program, including performing harvest layout and permitting, administering road building and logging contracts, and ensuring log quality controlAssist in the development of harvest budgets and forecastsCollaborate regarding silvicultural programs including reforestation, vegetation management, tree improvement, and inventoryInteract professionally and effectively with state regulatory agencies and diverse groupsEffectively coordinate with Federal, State, and local agencies in the protection of Company lands from wildfiresHike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, or GPSWork may consist of team or independent settings, in remote areas and in all seasons and weather conditionsSafely navigate hazardous mountain roadsApplications are open until position is failed QualificationsBachelor’s degree in forestry or related field, or equivalent recent, related work experience1 year experience in harvest engineering and/or harvest unit layout in the Pacific Northwest preferredDemonstrated understanding of operational and cost considerations of cable and ground-based logging systems and forest road constructionWorking knowledge of Oregon forest practice rulesExcellent organizational skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethicSkilled with Word, Outlook, Excel, ArcGIS software, experience with Road Eng or CAD preferredHold or obtain valid Oregon driver’s license Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location Detail: Eugene or Rosenburg, OR Salary: $65,000 to $110,000 per year (This is the general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.)
