Currently, our Ryderwood Forestry District has an opening for a qualified District Forester to help manage the Company’s timberlands in Lewis, Pacific, Thurston, and Cowlitz counties. The successful applicant is expected to work out of our district office located in Centralia, Washington.About the PositionManage and implement all aspects of a silviculture program including reforestation, vegetation management, and tree improvementCollaborate in the development of silvicultural budgets and forecastsAssist with the timber harvest program, including performing harvest unit layout and permitting, administering road building and logging contracts, and ensure log quality controlProfessionally and effectively interact with interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groupsMaintain essential documentation and critical databases related to reforestation activitiesEffectively work both within a team setting as well as independently in remote areasPerform forestry-related projects in a wide range of weather and field conditions using maps, compass, or GPSAssist and collaborate in other forestry work on the district as needed Qualifications3 years’ experience in silviculture in the Pacific NorthwestBachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related field, or equivalent recent, relevant work experienceUnderstanding of silvicultural practices and cost considerationsWork experience with Washington forest practice rulesValid Washington driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid Washington driver’s licenseDemonstrated ability to drive hazardous mountain roadsSkilled with Word, Outlook, Excel, and ArcGIS softwareExcellent organizational skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethic Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location Detail: Centralia, WA (Ryderwood Forestry District) Salary: $65,000 to $110,000 per year (This is the general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.)
