Job Description:

Works on a two-person forestry crew locating forest inventory plots and recording inventory and health monitoring data as instructed with a degree of accuracy required by the U.S. Forest Service - Southern Research Station, Forest Inventory and Analysis Unit. Assist in determining ownership and obtaining permission from the owner to enter property where plots are located. Transmits completed data to U.S. Forest Service. Attends training sessions related to the Forest Inventory and Analysis program and other required or voluntary South Carolina Forestry Commission training. Attends South Carolina forestry activities as appropriate and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree in forestry from a college or university accredited by the Society of American Foresters. Must successfully pass the U.S. Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis certification test within the first year of employment. A copy of the unofficial/official transcript must be included with the application.

You will be considered ineligible for employment if you fail to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Forestry from a college or university accredited by SAF or provide a certified official college transcript prior to the first day of employment. DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
