Job Description:

The Forestland Acquisition Associate, US South will be a pivotal position in expanding our mandated investable assets for afforestation. The position will primarily support candidate property pipeline development, on-site due diligence, and land broker relationship development. The successful candidate may work remotely, with preference for candidates currently located in the Southeastern U.S.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

• Source new acquisition opportunities across the US South including pastureland,

farmland, leases, and other alternative land uses that are accretive to

afforestation development.

• Cultivate and manage relationships with prospective partners, landowners, and

brokers to identify investment opportunities for our platform.

• Provide analytical, due diligence, and market research support for afforestation

and ad hoc strategic initiatives.

• Assessing and analyzing potential deals to identify quality opportunities that fit

the Chestnut Carbon investment criteria.

• Negotiate contracts and closings with landowners and brokers.

• Lead teams of internal resources and third parties/vendors to execute on

projects.

• Assist in the preparation of management plans and budgets post acquisition.

• Support ongoing development of proprietary investment screening tool(s) to

inform models with operationally feasible inputs.

• Support the Vice President of Corporate Development with all facets of

developing proprietary acquisition-to-management strategy.

• As at any rapidly growing company, you can expect many other tasks and

responsibilities to be assigned as well as growth opportunities to be seized.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Natural Resources, Agribusiness, Forestry, Real

Estate, or related discipline

• Graduate degree is highly desirable

• Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of applicable experience

• Strong financial, analytical, and reporting skills

• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information

• Understanding of forestland/agriculture economics, transactions, and operations

• High degree of coachability and intellectual curiosity for forest carbon market

development

• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with

stakeholders across the value chain

• Well-developed verbal and written communications and presentation skills

• Ability to work independently and within a remote team to effectively build

relationships and interact effectively with Chestnut Carbon employees and

business partners

• Ability to work successfully under pressure and effectively prioritize and control

time and workload

• Able and willing to travel frequently to remote regions of the US

Chestnut Carbon pays 100% of the cost of the employees’ health/dental/vision insurance. During each fiscal year of employment, employees will be eligible to earn a discretionary annual incentive bonus, based on company and individual performance targets.
