Forestry is a major economic engine in the South, and forest products are used in thousands of products. Our program, regarded as one of the top five in the country, teaches students how to sustainably manage forest lands to meet society's demands for wood, clean water, wildlife habitat, recreation, conservation of forest flora and fauna, and emerging stresses on forest ecosystems. Through this program, learn through hands-on field experiences and teamwork. Warnell's program, which is accredited by the Society of American Foresters, also develops critical thinking skills through problem analysis. Coursework Classes give students a sound understanding of forest ecosystems, the ways people view and use the forest, and management tools and concepts applied in forest conservation and management. Classes cover topics such as soils and hydrology, economics, spatial analysis, silviculture and harvesting.
