Job Description:

Acts as the Tallahassee Forestry Center Recreation Coordinator. Develops and implements an outdoor recreation program for all lands managed by the Center. This includes conducting on-site inspections of individual state forests to determine outdoor recreation feasibility, conducting forest recreation resources inventories, tracking and monitoring public visitation on state forests, determining the maximum recreational land-use pressure an area can tolerate without degradation, developing outdoor recreation plans, and securing alternative means to obtain funding for recreational projects.

Provides assistance to field staff in the planning and development of outdoor recreational facilities, trails, and associated activities. Conducts on-site quality assurance inspections as to the implementation of individual forest recreation plans and in the operation and maintenance of existing facilities, trails and programs. Assists in the design and implementation of outdoor recreation training programs. Serves as the Center’s Volunteer Program Coordinator and Friends of Florida State Forests Liaison.

Coordinates public participation in all land use/recreation planning projects and identifies areas of concern. Conducts public workshops and acts as liaison with forest user groups. Prepares public information and marketing materials including brochures, map guides, newsletter articles, kiosk information, road signs, etc. Oversees the online reservation system for the Center.

Assists in the assigned area of responsibility with the planning, development and administration of the Florida Forest Service’s State Forest Program. In addition to outdoor recreation, this includes the management of timber, wildlife, protected species, archeological and historic resources, and aquatic resources. Assists in developing and monitoring forest resource management plans on state forests to ensure that the Florida Forest Service goals are being pursued and accomplished as scheduled and planned.

Performs other duties as assigned, which includes the handling of revenue.

 

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work.

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience. 

Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Requires possession of a valid driver license.

Salary:
$34,501.48 - $51,102.22
