We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented and tech savvy field technician to assist with entry-level Forestry work on state lands in Vermont. Employment runs approximately from May through November, but exact dates may be flexible depending on candidate. State fleet vehicles are available, and their use is preferable, but use of personal vehicle may be required on occasion, with mileage reimbursed. Project duties may include forest inventory, timber sale marking, boundary line marking, road and trail maintenance, kiosk and gate installation and maintenance, invasive plant management, hazard tree removal, trailhead maintenance, trail project oversight, road and trail assessments, wildlife habitat improvement, and data management. The selected candidate will work with the State Lands staff to create a work plan and execute identified projects.  Work is performed under the direct supervision of a licensed forester or forest recreation specialist.

Minimum Qualifications

Professional experience/coursework/degree in forestry or natural resources, including dendrology and forest measurements

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have:
VT Pesticide Applicator's License
Game of Logging chainsaw certification
Proficient use of GPS/GIS
