Job Description:

The Quinault Indian Reservation, located on Washington State’s scenic Olympic Peninsula, includes approximately 160k acres of timberland producing 47 million board feet annually. The Quinault Division of Natural Resources is seeking skilled natural resource technicians to perform duties in support of timber management activities.

Primary Functions:

• Performs pre-harvest reconnaissance on timber stands and water features

• Under direction of Staff Foresters, marks property lines, harvest boundaries, and road locations

• Collects and maintains organization of data on forestry activities

• Cruises and scales timber and other forest products

• Utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, GIS and other industry software for assigned tasks

• Operates common field forestry tools, GPS units, and electronic data collectors

• Monitors active harvesting operations and documents progress

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate of Applied Science degree with major study in forest technology or other related natural resource field. A high school diploma or equivalent with previous demonstrated experience in related duties may be substituted for an AAS. The successful candidate must be able to pass a federal background check, and drug screening; hold or have the ability to obtain a valid Washington State driver’s license and have and maintain the ability to be insured under QIN automobile insurance. Candidates must have the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and rugged terrain.

Full benefit package that includes health insurance (no premium for individuals), 401k w/ match, starting 13 days vacation leave, 13 days sick leave and 14 paid holidays; Optional participation in wildland fire deployments (overtime).
