Overview

The Gary Dietrich Wildlife Management Apprentice Program is a 2-year program designed to train the next generation of land management professionals who will make a large scale positive impact on Wildlife Management. Candidates who have completed an associates, bachelors, or master degree can come to learn hands-on wildlife, fisheries, and natural resource management skills. 

Through the implementation of a quality curriculum, expert instructors, and a host of industry and landowner partners, we are equipping apprentices with the training and on-the-job experience needed to provide quality wildlife management on public and private lands. This program is great place to kick start your career. Through SCWA and our partners, we have successfully placed one hundred percent of our Apprentices in desired wildlife management jobs.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Team player attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including some nights and weekends
  • Energetic, devoted, mission-driven, team-oriented individual
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

The Gary Dietrich Wildlife Management Apprentice Program equips college graduates with the practical experience necessary to become effective wildlife habitat managers. The achievements of its graduates will have a major impact on the quality of wildlife management throughout North America.

Salary:
First year $7.25 per hour. Second year $8.00 per hour
Benefits:
  • Housing and utilities provided
  • 7 paid holidays, 5 days paid vacation, 5 personal days
  • Minimum of $5,000 in tips earned during hunting programs.
