Geology Assistant

Full-time, Project, Anticipated Project employment is May 2026 - February 2027
Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered
 

Salary: $4,093.00 - $5,501.00 Monthly

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will use their geology background, organizational and time-management skills, and practical GIS knowledge to assist with team-based geologic mapping and sampling. Duties include describing rocks, deposits, and geologic features; interpreting new and existing data; navigating field terrain independently or as part of a team; and collecting and compiling field data using ArcGIS Online. The candidate will also develop geologic unit descriptions, interpret geologic framework, describe mine waste features, contribute to subsurface analysis of borings, wells, and drilling records, assist with 2D cross sections, and support sample selection and thin-section analysis. Additional responsibilities include preparing technical geologic reports and supporting project goals using GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Illustrator.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, geography, or a closely related field AND (2) two years of relevant professional experience in geology; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience collecting and managing analytical samples and data (for example: field sampling protocols, QA/QC concepts, sample metadata, basic data review).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience using Geographic Information Systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Washington State geology, hydrothermal alteration, mineral assemblages, and geochemistry.
