Job Description:

Manage geospatial data to create interactive applications for citizen science needs. Create interactive interfaces for data collection, display and sharing of water quality data and watershed conditions. Serve as liaison for scientists and citizens working on geospatial water quality data including physical, chemical, and biological, in addition to watershed analysis and surveys. Provide assistance with other tasks as needed, such as field work throughout the state. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of water quality and watershed science. As is relevant, some on the job training will be provided. This is an hourly position (29 hours per week) with no benefits. The position is expected to last six to nine months, with opportunity for extension. Some travel required. Pay rate depends on education and experience, starting at $17/hr.

1. Serve as lead analyst for citizen scientist data capture, analysis, and spatial components.

2. Administer, publish and maintain geodatabases, and ArcGIS server data.

3. Create interactive water quality applications for both internal and external users.

4. Update maps as requested by staff, program partners, and scientists.

5. Assist with QA/QC, records verification, and database management as required.

6. Work with Georgia EPD IT to implement changes to existing and new webpages.

7. Conduct outreach and mentoring as needed to implement projects.

8. Perform other duties and assist with other program data components as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency with all major functions of ESRI ArcGIS suite.

• Proficient with Excel, SQL Server and other databasing tools.

• Good written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work independently with little supervision, and as part of a team

.• Undergraduate degree in college-level biology, geography, or environmental science.

• M.S. or Graduate Certificate in biology, environmental sciences, or geography preferred.

• Knowledge of southeastern watersheds and water quality issues preferred

. • Knowledge of modeling software and web design preferred.

Salary:
$17/ hr
