Job Type:
Full Time
Location:

Location Detail:

Job Description:

Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) updating and mapping support for the Columbia Basin Management Area.  Provide support for the Timberlands Management Information System (TMIS) and ArcMap mapping systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide support for the Timberland Management Information System (TMIS).
  • Function as a primary support for Engineers’ FPA mapping using Cengea’s MapWindow interface and ESRI ArcMap.
  • Create, update, and maintain templates for use in ArcMap.
  • Generate maps as needed by Engineers for inclusion in FPAs and internal map packets, to include Harvest, Vicinity, Standard FPA, Haul Route and Road Construction Overview maps. Communicate and coordinate closely with staff to ensure efficient and accurate mapping.
  • Populate and update corporate databases associated with Green Diamond’s partially integrated mapping system (CENGEA).
  • Scan and orthorectify final harvest maps, final road maps, and cleanup maps for internal and contractor personnel use in logging, road construction and post-harvest cleanup of logging units.
  • Coordinate with GIS Manager to help generate associated reports relating to SHA (Safe Harbor Agreement) reporting and provide information for depletions.
  • Coordinate with GIS Manager to update the corporate database to reflect changes in GIS layers and associated attribute tables resulting from FPAs, including roads and watercourse updates in addition to unit boundaries, logging and silvicultural method boundaries, geologic features, and retention areas.
  • Assist with ongoing development and refinement of the TMIS system, coordinating with GDRCo IT and GIS staff and other GDRCo personnel as needed in testing, trouble-shooting, and developing solutions to problems.
  • Digitize depletion in order to update GIS for current year’s harvest blocks and retention areas for use in annual/quarterly GIS depletion updates.
  • Update as many other features as possible from the annual depletion air photos, such as older roads, watercourses, discernable cover type boundaries, etc.
  • Resolve discrepancies between polygon boundaries and linear features in different layers that should be congruent, but are not; for example, when a cover type boundary corresponds to a watercourse, and is also equivalent to a prior FPA boundary, all of these should be made to match in the GIS.
  • Assist with Covertype updates for depletions.
  • Assist with updates associated with property acquisition and disposal activity.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Assist with fulfilling mapping requests from Managers and Operations personnel.
  • Produce survey maps and track the issuance of surveyor contracts.  Maintain files of completed surveys.  Digitize and attribute new and updated property corners into ArcGIS.
  • Process GPS points for field-collected data for use in determining traverse boundaries, stream PIP locations, etc.
  • Assist CBMA with various administrative tasks as required.
