Employer GA Department of Natural Resources - Wildlife Resources Division Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills JOB DESCRIPTIONUnder the supervision of biologists and technical staff, the GIS specialist will be responsible for entering andediting records of rare species in the NatureServe Biotics database. The GIS specialist will also assist with thedevelopment, improvement, and maintainance of other geospatial databases supporting the conservation ofhigh priority species and habitats. The GIS specialist will assist other staff members with the collection,organization and entry of high priority species data and assist with projects to improve the efficiency andaccuracy of Georgia DNR’s environmental review process. This position will focus primarily on aquatic speciesdata collection and management. They will assist with some project specific field work including boat &backpack electrofishing, long term population monitoring, and freshwater mussel sampling. This job is expectedto be approximately 80% computer-based work and 20% fieldwork with occasional overnight travel.
