The Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources is now accepting applications for a Ph.D. research assistantship under the co-advisement of Drs. David Clabo and Stephen Kinane. The student will have responsibility for soil classification and site index/mean annual increment modeling for loblolly, slash, and longleaf pines from data collected on over 500 plots across Georgia. 

Those interested in this Ph.D. opportunity should have a strong analytical / biometric background, some project management experience, and be familiar with pine plantations of the southeastern United States. Evidence of quantitative skills in assessing forest conditions, data management, writing skills, soils knowledge, and the ability to synthesize research into publishable works is preferred for the Ph.D. position. The position will include some field work throughout Georgia. Preference will be given to those who have earned undergraduate and/or master’s degrees in forestry, and those who have acquired some practical forest management experience in the southeastern United States.
