Employer University of Georgia Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Title: Graduate Research Assistant (Master of Science) Project: Analysis of Inventory and Monitoring DataWe intend to hire one or more MS students to each conduct a thesis research project and provide statistical and technical assistance to the National Park Service’s Inventory and Monitoring Division. Projects will focus on cooperatively analyzing monitoring data, likely to include trend analyses of forest vegetation data. Depending on project foci and student interests, the students may enroll in either the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources or the Department of Statistics. Responsibilities:Conduct exploratory data analysis and visualizations, code statistical and quantitative models connected to monitoring and management questions; prepare statistical-support reports; present results to partners and at scientific conferences; complete thesis and degree requirements; submit an article to a peer-reviewed outlet; and interact with scientists at the National Park Service, the Georgia Cooperative Research Unit, and our partners. Other related duties may also be assigned as needs arise (e.g., required training, contribution to general operation of the research unit).
