Job Description:

A graduate student position is available for a multidisciplinary project in the Forest Economics lab at the Department of Forestry, Michigan State University. The successful candidate will be involved in interdisciplinary research and will receive training in forest economics, market analysis, and forest resource management. The successful candidate will work on research related to forest carbon programs, biomassbased bioenergy, and forest products market analysis. This position is open for both master’s and Ph.D. depending upon successful candidate’s background and strengths. The successful candidate can choose to start from Fall 2024 or earlier depending on the completion of the admission process.


The candidate should have: • Undergraduate degree in Forestry, Economics or related field • Previously attained and maintained exceptional academic standing (min GPA 3.5 on 4.0 scale) • Have a TOEFL score of 81 iBT and GRE (TOEFL for students with non-English credentials only) • Be self-motivated, well organized and adaptive to a team of multidisciplinary researchers Additionally, candidates need to meet the minimum requirements outlined by Michigan State University’s Graduate program, found here:

A bi-weekly stipend, determined by prior experience and education levels (first year stipend will be
approximately $28,522 without MS and $31,668 with MS)
A tuition waiver of up to nine credits per semester fall and spring and five credits during the summer
with out-of-state tuition waiver for students who take more than the covered number of credits each
