The Upper Midwest Water Science Center is looking for two highly motivated individuals to build expertise to conduct USGS science projects.

 

Two Hydrologic Technicians will be hired in Madison, WI at the GS-5/6/7 pay grade (depending upon qualifications; starting salary range is $37,696 to $46,696). This is a term appointment not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.

There will be on-the-job training to learn USGS techniques and methods, and we are looking for candidates that can bring additional skills to the position. If you have a background in construction, electrical, agriculture, engineering, or design and have a willingness to learn new things, please consider the position. USGS technicians create the foundation for all USGS projects and candidates will be responsible for the collection and communication of a wide range of water related data for the Center. In addition, candidates will be able to put their additional skills to the test through the development and maintenance of instrumentation in a wide range of settings, from agricultural fields to urban centers.

Qualifications:

Read full description on USAjobs as requirements and qualifications vary by grade level. Briefly, you can qualify for a GS-5 with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service that is in or related to the duties of this position. Specialized experience may include work as a technician or aid in engineering, earth, physical, or natural science, forestry, soil conservation, or surveying; trades or crafts work in maintenance or construction of facilities or equipment related to hydrology; drafting; or construction estimating if it equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Salary:
$37,696 - $60,703 per year
