The Jones Center invites applications for the Ichauway Conservation Fellowship. This is an 18 – 24-month (in- residence) program providing practical, real world, and applied natural resource management experience with the opportunity to pursue a graduate degree.

The 29,000-acre Research Center is located approximately 30 miles south of Albany, Georgia. The Center’s research, education, and conservation programs focus on ecology and natural resource management. The site includes 16,000 acres of longleaf pine forests, over 1,000 acres of wetlands and 26 miles of two stream and river ecosystems. For more information visit our web site: www.jonesctr.org.


Job requirements

The first year of the program is spent as a regular member of Ichauway’s, professional, day to day land management staff. Activities are hands-on, applied, and geared towards providing individuals with experience in all aspects of the holistic land management of a significant property.

The second portion of the program continues many of the same activities while increasing opportunities for leadership and the ability to tailor some activities towards the interests of the participating individual. Additionally, successful participants will receive the opportunity to collaborate with external partners in natural resource management.

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, wildlife management, ecology, or related field. The Ichauway Conservation Fellowship is a program with high expectations. 
  • Qualities of professionalism, respect, cooperation, curiosity, and hard work are expected and required. 
  • Applicants will have a strong interest in applied natural resource management and the potential to develop the personal characteristics listed above. 
  • Applications for individuals already holding a Master’s degree will be accepted.

Participants will be provided compensation with full benefits package, onsite housing and given the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree through a cooperating university during their Fellowship.

The ability to participate in a graduate program at a cooperating university is dependent on acceptance into that program.

The Jones Center will provide the cost of tuition required for the completion of the degree.
