Job Description:

Responsibilities: The assigned duties will be approximately 30% research, 40% outreach, and 30% teaching. The position will involve applied research on issues critical to forest products markets in Arkansas, outreach, and service to the existing forest industry in expanding markets, assisting state agencies with recruiting efforts, and teaching undergraduate, postbaccalaureate, and certificate classes in forest products, wood technology, and manufacturing. Development of an externally-funded research program and recruiting, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students is also expected.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: Applicants should have an M.S. + 5 years practical experience or a Ph.D. in or closely related to forest product marketing, forest operations/operations research, or biomass logistics. Familiarity with spatial analysis/GIS is also desired. Practical experience and applied research interest in advancing forest enterprises are desired but not required. Candidates should have the ability to work closely with the forest industry in promoting sustainable forestbased economic growth. The ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations is also important.

The University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Arkansas Center for Forest Business (ACFB) is seeking an individual to work towards finding market-based solutions to forest resource issues, enhancing business practices of forest enterprises, and improving the economic competitiveness of Arkansas’s forest economy.

The Arkansas Center for Forest Business is housed within the College of Forestry, Agriculture & Natural Resources on the UAM Campus in Monticello, Arkansas. The College is home to undergraduate programs in Natural Resources Management, Agriculture, and Land Surveying, and offers an M.S. level graduate program with an emphasis on areas in forest science, geospatial science, wildlife ecology and management, and natural resources management. Many of the faculty members in the College have joint appointments with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture with research and extension assignments.
