Job Description:

1. Static Field Measurements:

o Measure DBH, tree height, canopy width, and other measurements to calculate benefits in iTree.

2. iTree Software:

o Benefit Valuation: Utilize the i-Tree software program to determine the monetary value projected over the next 50 years of the benefits provided by these trees, considering factors such as air quality improvement, energy conservation, stormwater savings, etc.

o Carbon Reduction Calculation:

· Use i-Tree to estimate the reduction in atmospheric carbon attributable to the donated shade trees over the next 50 years.

· Convert the carbon reduction into pounds to show a final number per tree and estimate the calculation in total of all Select Trees combined at the determined site. For example, how much total atmospheric carbon is estimated to be reduced in the 50 year period for all trees evaluated.

3. Final Report:

o Compile a detailed final report summarizing the key findings of the i-Tree study.

4. Communication and Marketing Materials: o Help develop marketing materials for Select Trees Enterprises showcasing the environmental and economic impact of measured trees. Include pictures and define a “sticky” message that the student feels will impact the public. Ultimately leading to a greater understanding of the impact of large shade trees in all public and private areas.

Salary:
$15/hr
