Job Description:

Assist Portfolio Managers with harvest scheduling and cash flow modeling

• Assist Investment Foresters and Operation Managers with silvicultural analysis • Compile, review and summarize harvest schedule and inventory output data

• Write and produce FIA’s quarterly investment newsletter for clients and prospects

• Develop and maintain periodic client account review materials and portfolio snapshots • Coordinate annual property appraisal and appraisal update process

• Conduct discounted cash flow analysis at the property and portfolio levels

• Calculate historical and projected internal rates of return • Conduct hold/sell analyses to determine whether tracts should be held or sold

• Assist in valuation, marketing and contracting of disposition (land sale) activities • Assist in valuation and investment analysis on potential acquisitions

• Create written reports and presentations for management and clients using PowerPoint or other similar media

• Maintain timber and timberland pricing databases for all major timberland regions; perform analysis on these data to provide meaningful information for use in making investment decisions

• Perform wood basket analyses and market studies for various regions working independently or in association with outside consultants

• Develop and refine custom spreadsheets and other analysis and tracking tools

• Perform research on special projects as assigned and cooperate with other FIA analytical resources on joint projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, finance or related field (advanced degree preferred)

• Thorough working knowledge of principles of investments and finance

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• High level of skill in technical and statistical analysis of investments

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, ArcView & GIS mapping (programming skills including R and SQL preferred)

Salary:
Salary negotiable and commensurate with experience. Salary reviewed annually, eligible
for quarterly profit-sharing after six months of employment. Benefits include fifteen paid
days off per calendar year plus major holidays, flex-time work schedule, full payment of
medical insurance premium, full payment of life insurance premium with benefit of
$50,000, full payment of long-term disability insurance premium, payment of professional
dues, and participation in retirement plan and stock purchase plan after one full calendar
year of employment.
