Deadline: Fri, 06/30/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: Southeastern Louisiana University Job Field: Fisheries Wildlife Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Louisiana Location Detail: Hammond, LA Job Description: Southeastern Louisiana University is seeking a Research Associate to prepare and analyze blood and tissue samples from biota (crabs, frogs, fish, alligators) from Lake Maurepas, a slightly saline lake on the upper end of the Lake Pontchartrain estuary. The researcher will work with the Assistant Project Director to receive samples and perform ELISA hormone assays, leukocyte profiles and tissue histology, as well as work with research assistants on specimen gonado- and hepatosomatic indices. Applicants should have an M.S. in Biology or a related field and/or should have experience with physiological laboratory techniques, including histology and ELISA kit assays. Applicants must be organized and self-motivated, and have strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a research team. The Research Associate will be required to perform the above-mentioned laboratory techniques, enter data and participate in publishing manuscripts.
