Job Description:

Dr. Martin Hamel’s lab at UGA is seeking to hire two technicians to assist in conducting research on Lake Sturgeon in the Coosa River System. The projects consist of population demographics and movement and habitat use of a reintroduced population of Lake Sturgeon in the Coosa River System. Technicians will assist with operating and trailering small boats (18-20’) in riverine environments, sampling fish with trammel nets and trotlines, data entry, and tracking Lake Sturgeon with radio telemetry equipment. Technicians may also help with net repairs and minor boat and trailer repairs. Technicians will work approximately 40 hours per week and must be able to tolerate hot weather and lift up to 40 pounds.

 

Qualifications:

Experience with trammel nets and trotlines, operating and trailering boats, and mechanical repair is desirable, but not required. On the job training will be provided. Must be able to work with others and share a living space with up to three other people in Rome, GA.

Miscellaneous:

Dates are from May 1st to August 11th, 2023. Start date and end date are flexible.

Salary:
$12.75 hourly. Housing provided
