Job Description:

This is professional services and scientific work involving research and management of wildlife habitat by protecting, preserving, and enhancing Maine’s natural resources within the Lands Program of the Bureau of Resource Management. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the position assists the Lands Management Biologist for the planning and implementation of a statewide habitat management program, and its components of land and wildlife habitat stewardship, at the landscape level, to enhance, maintain and create wildlife habitat on 67 Department Wildlife Management Areas (“WMAs”) on over 120,000 acres state-wide. Working with the Lands Management team, regional and specialist wildlife staff, the position coordinates activities pertaining to habitat management objectives, and conducts and oversees fieldwork necessary to achieve wildlife habitat objectives.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or related field and four (4) years field experience involving inspection and supervision of harvesting operations, surveying, cruising, timber making, and general forest management planning. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Four (4) years field experience

LICENSING: Licensed as a Professional Forester from the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Foresters

Salary:
$51,084.80 - $68,889.60
