Employer The University of Vermont Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills POSITION: The Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (RSENR) at the University of Vermont (UVM) welcomes applicants for a full-time, 9-month, Lecturer in Terrestrial Wildlife Ecology. Successful applicants will have (1) applied skills relevant to terrestrial wildlife ecology (for example, conservation biology, wildlife habitat management, wildlife population ecology, or human-wildlife interactions), (2) demonstrated excellence in undergraduate instruction, (2) a passion for student mentoring, (3) a record of centering equity and inclusion in their professional endeavors, and (5) evidence of engagement with their academic community. The Wildlife and Fisheries Biology program is a growing major focused on the application of science to addressing pressing conservation issues. We seek candidates who apply creative and innovative approaches to teaching and student mentoring and facilitate and promote inclusive teaching environments.RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities: Responsibilities include participation in the School’s teaching, advising, mentoring and service activities. The successful candidate will be expected to:Instruction (0.85 FTE): Teach courses such as Conservation Biology, Principles of Wildlife Management, Wildlife Behavior, or Terrestrial Wildlife Ecology, as well as courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.Advising/Mentoring (0.1 FTE) Advise undergraduate students in the Wildlife and Fisheries Biology Program and provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate students conducting research, internships, and independent studies.Service (0.05 FTE): Be an active member of the RSENR faculty community, including membership on RSENR or UVM committees. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in wildlife and fisheries biology, conservation biology, environmental science, natural resources, or related discipline by May 2025.
