Job Description:

Birmingham International Forest Products (BIFP) is excited to offer summer internships. As part of the internship, students will gain additional skills to prepare them for entering the job market. Students will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business scenarios. Our internship program is structured to provide exposure to all aspects of our business, allowing the student to learn about the lumber industry, successful business plans, and real-world challenges.

 

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Transportation Department to manage distribution and gain exposure to day-to-day operations

• Communication and collaboration with BIFP traders to resolve challenges in the distribution of forest products

• Monitoring and analyzing market trends within the forest product trading industry

• Networking with BIFP traders to learn about the company’s business model

• Input orders and follow through with shipment to ensure timely delivery

• Call on suppliers to determine pricing strategies and orders

• Attend and participate in morning market meetings

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma is required along with being currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university

• Experience in competitive sports or other highly competitive roles is considered an asset

Salary:
$15/hour
