Job Description:

As a Marine Resource Management Specialist, some of your specific duties will include:

 

Promote the development of aquaculture through improved partnerships, strategic planning, regulatory streamlining, technology transfer, best practices, and identification of funding opportunities.

 

Coordinate regional outreach activities with National Program and other NMFS offices or science centers as appropriate, which includes meetings with stakeholders and partners, preparing appropriate aquaculture material and information for inclusion in constituent newsletters, and posting on regional office website.

 

Review and provide comments on proposed aquaculture regulations at the local, state, and federal level.

 

Serve as the Region's technical representative on in-house and external aquaculture research and development proposals, and on Saltonstall-Kennedy and other grant programs.

Qualifications:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience OR substitution of education for experience OR combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. Transcripts must be submitted with your application package. You MUST meet the following requirements:

 

Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

 

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

 

To qualify at the ZP-3 or GS-11 level:

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-2 or GS-09 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:

 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

 

To qualify at the ZP-4 or GS-13:

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZP-3 or GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:

 

Coordinating outreach activities and fostering relationships with stakeholders and partners to improve efficiency and effectiveness of aquaculture permitting processes and public understanding of aquaculture issues;

 

Promoting the development of aquaculture through methods such as partnerships, strategic planning, regulatory streamlining, technology transfer, best practices, and identification of funding opportunities; and

 

Conducting technical reviews of proposals or drafting proposals related to aquaculture research and development.

Salary:
$74,137 - $168,283 per year
