Deadline: Mon, 04/15/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: University of Idaho Job Field: Fisheries Job Type: Full Time Location: Idaho Location Detail: Moscow, Idaho Job Description: The incumbent will develop statistical models for existing data on mercury (Hg) and selenium (Se) in the Kootenai River system (Idaho) and associated fishes. Develop spatial predictions of Hg and Se concentrations commensurate with available data. Develop recommendations for future sampling designs and analytical pipelines for future data. The incumbent will develop professional relationships with managers and researchers in diverse fields. Working within the UI’s College of Natural Resources under the direction of Dr. Matt Falcy, the incumbent will develop expertise at the intersection of statistics and natural resources management. In addition to working toward a M.S. in Natural Recourses, a graduate certificate or M.S. in Statistics may be possible. This project has nexus to tribal lands. Tribal members are highly encouraged to apply. A non-tribal incumbent will be expected to grow appreciation of regional tribal history and contemporary tribal issues. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Fish and Wildlife Sciences, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related degree. • Interest in statistical modeling and natural resources. • Familiarity with R software. • Ability to cultivate professional relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
