Job Description:

MS research assistantship

The assistantship is available for 24 months beginning in Spring 2025. Forest product prices have recently been declining in Arkansas, impacting forest growing stock and income for forest landowners. It is, therefore, essential to explore alternative markets to enhance the profitability and resilience of the forestry sector. The project aims to investigate the forest product's current and future market trends. 

Research topics include, but are not limited to, timber market analysis, forest product prices, and forest industries.

Qualifications:

Candidate having experience in forest/natural resource economics, finance, or management is highly desirable. It is expected that the applicant will have an undergraduate (BS) in forestry, forest science, or natural resource management. Familiarity with R is also sought. This research project requires strong quantitative and analytical skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Over-night travel and outdoor work under various climates might be needed.

Applicants must have a 2.7 overall undergraduate GPA or 3.0 GPA in the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate courses.

A B.S. degree in a natural resources-related field is also required. Applicants must have a valid U.S. driver’s license or obtain the same within 60 days of starting employment. 

Overnight travel is required as well as the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Salary:
An annual stipend of $18,000 plus tuition and fees.
