Job Description:

The Metal Biogeochemistry Lab (www.xiaoyuxulab.com) in the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory at the University of Georgia has openings for MS and/or PhD students to investigate fate and transport of contaminants in the ecosystems and the use of wetland for metal removal in the fall-2025 term. Our research team focuses on metal biogeochemistry, including bioavailability and bioaccumulation of contaminants, metal speciation and modeling, mercury biogeochemistry and isotopic fractionation, toxicity, and exposure modeling and risk assessment. Students will join Savannah River Ecology Laboratory and Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. The support will be provided through funding from the Department of Energy.

Qualifications:

Ability and interest to work in both field and laboratory is required. Graduate school applicants will need a background in one or more of the following areas: chemistry, environmental sciences/engineering, marine sciences, biology, biogeochemistry, natural resources or related. Candidates with general programming skills, strong technical writing skills, quantitative skills, communication skills, the ability to work independently, and enthusiasm for research are encouraged to apply.

Salary:
$22900 to $25190 per year
