Employer National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills As a Natural Resource Management Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Assist higher-level specialists and protected species managers in conserving and protecting living marine resources and their habitats, in order to coordinate the office's major salmon grant program. Implement aspects of a species recovery grant program, including writing first drafts of notices of funding opportunities and program reports.Assist higher-level specialists in the preparation of materials necessary to implement the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA), Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and other applicable laws. Organize technical reviews of grant applications associated with grant competitions, working on logistics associated with planning meetings and site visits.Assist grant applicants and grantees by responding to program-related questions, or redirecting questions to the higher-level specialist. Compile data and technical materials supporting grant program needs. Brief higher-level specialists of external engagement and review progress reports, and discuss reporting issues with them.
