Job Description:

Russell Lake is part of the Savannah River Basin. Along with Lake Hartwell

and J. Strom Thurmond, Lake Russell is part of a system of large multipurpose projects located

on the Savannah River bordering Georgia and South Carolina. This position serves as a Natural

Resource Specialist with the purpose to provide natural resource management for 53,000 plus

acres of land and water. Serves as a Natural Resource Specialist as part of a multi-disciplinary

team for the Russell Project. Duties entail a mission to manage and conserve natural

resources, consistent with ecosystem principles, while providing quality sustainable public

outdoor recreation experiences, contract administration, environmental stewardship and

environmental compliance. Coordinates planning and execution of all activities related to one or

more of the following programs: forestry, fisheries, wildlife, shoreline stabilization, pest control,

soil conservation, boundary surveillance, recreation, park administration, shoreline

management, contract administration, historic properties protection, public education,

interpretation, visitor assistance and public safety.

Qualifications:

1. Must have an awarded college degree by an institution of higher education with 24

semester hours or the equivalent in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource

management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

2. Citizenship Requirements: Must be a US citizen.

3. You will also be evaluated based on your level of competency

(Knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:

- Knowledge, skills and experience working with a diverse Natural Resource Management

Programs: Fish & Wildlife, Forestry, Aquatic and Terrestrial Plant Control, Fire Management

- Ability to Communicate Orally and in Writing.

- Teamwork

- Experience with tools/equipment and their maintenance, necessary to accomplish

Natural Resource Management work.

Miscellaneous:

Employment of Relatives: In accordance with 5 CFR part 310, a student may work in the

same agency with a relative when there is no direct reporting and the relative is not in a position

to influence or control the student’s appointment within the agency.

Other Requirements

 Personnel security investigation required

 Must be capable of obtaining a motorboat operators license within one year of appointment

 License/Certification: Valid State Driver’s License

 Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification

Statement for Selective Service Registration

 Direct Deposit of Pay is required

Salary:
$41,822 - $82,379
