About This Role:

The Kansas Forest Service is looking for a full-time, term position as the District Forester of a 23-county district in Northwest Kansas. This position is responsible for providing rural forestry technical assistance to owners and managers of the region's rural forest resources including woodlots, windbreaks, and shelterbelts. The District Forester in this position will also provide community forestry assistance in the form of helping organize local volunteer and municipal tree boards, conducting community tree inventories, and more. This position will also establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with federal, state and local natural resource agencies and organizations on forestry related programs. The office location of this position is flexible within the district, but incumbent must reside within the district after hiring.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Forestry or a closely related natural resource discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years forestry or related natural resources field experience

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License upon employment
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
