Job Description:

The CREST Center for Geospatial and Environmental Informatics, Modeling and Simulation at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking a PhD student to study coastal resilience and environmental sustainability, starting Fall 2022. The research project aims to better understand the interactions of urban hydrology, water infrastructure systems, and environmental management strategies in coastal regions, using a combination of observation, simulation and experimental methods. This position is fully funded by the National Science Foundation for up to five years, covering stipend, benefits, and tuition.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a master’s degree in civil and environmental engineering, geography, environmental science, computer science, or a related field. Preliminary knowledge of hydrology and GIS is desired. Skills with any of the following topics are not required but will be highly valued: (a) hydrologic or water quality modeling; (b) monitoring or experiment of green infrastructure, (c) unmanned aircraft systems, (d) Python programming, (e) Google Earth Engine or Planet Platform, and (f) artificial intelligence.

Students from minority groups traditionally underrepresented in science and engineering fields are especially encouraged to apply. US Citizenship or permanent residency is required.
