Job Description:

This position will supervise and coordinate the Open Gate program. Open Gate is a statewide program that seeks to gain public access to private land or improve access to public land for hunting, fishing or trapping. This program currently administers approximately 25 properties and has gained or improved access to over 100,000 acres. This position requires an excellent working knowledge of the biological, life history and habitat needs of a wide variety of free-ranging wildlife, fish and fur-bearing species. This position will review potential projects and interested properties to determine the type and quality of the hunting, fishing and trapping opportunities gained or offered and ranks the project/property among other competing applications. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Open Gate program. Program management experience for a region- or state-wide natural resource program is essential. This position will draft contracts and agreements, monitor the program budget, manage the federal-aid grant associated with the program, work with financial staff to procure program equipment and monitor participating properties for program compliance. This position will serve as a clearinghouse for questions from participants, hunters, anglers, trappers as well as agency staff. This position will require experience, working with and communicating directly one-on-one with landowners.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Range Management, Range Science, Wildlife Biology, Environment Science, Conservation Science, Natural Resources, Watershed Management, Anthropology or Archeology and two (2) years of experience in Forestry or Range Management, Range Science, Wildlife Biology, Environment Science, or Watershed Management, Anthropology or Archeology. Miscellaneous:

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Experience in managing a region-wide or state-wide natural resource program

Experience in working one-on-one with private landowners, answering questions from the public, and giving presentations

Experience in evaluating habitats on public and/or public land

Experience in a position that required managing website content, tracking budgets, and organizing documents

Experience in using ArcGIS software

Salary:
$24.11 - $38.58 Hourly $50,155 - $80,248 Annually This position is a Pay Band 70
