Job Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will lead all aspects of timberland and personnel management for a 772,000 acre timberland asset located in east Texas and owned by CST. The position will closely collaborate with TTG and CST staff to provide exceptional client services and drive asset value through implementation of science-based forest management practices and stewardship, optimization of timber deliveries, productive stakeholder relationships, and quality analytics and reporting.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Provide exceptional, turnkey timberland management services for a 772,000 acre client property

 Recruit, develop, retain, and lead a team of approximately 35 employees, including Region Managers, Foresters, Analysts, Landmen, and Administrative personnel

 Lead the timber sales program, including development of annual harvest plans, recruitment and retention of a quality logging force, and negotiation and execution of fiber supply agreements, committed volume agreements, and stumpage sales 

 Lead the timber allocation program, designed to meet all delivery commitments while optimizing transaction type, freight logistics, fiber sourcing, and timber revenue associated with individual harvest units

 Lead harvesting operations, including budgeting, planning, harvest delineation, utilization, merchandizing, contractor supervision, a timber security

 Lead implementation of sound, science-based silviculture practices, including site preparation, planting, pre-commercial thinning, thinning, mid-rotation treatments, forest health treatments, and BMP compliance

 Design and lead a cost-effective, proactive infrastructure maintenance program that addresses safety, efficiency, and year-round access to the timberland asset

 Lead ad valorem tax evaluation and administration, recreational license program administration, maintenance of land records data, and all other asset administration programs

 Lead the maintenance, population, and use of an enterprise-level information management system that includes spatial and tabular attribute and activity data related to the timberland asset

 Actively engage in TTG FS’s environmental, social, and governance program that includes safety, stewardship, sustainability, conversation, industry advocacy and community relations

 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in forestry or closely related field and fifteen years of relevant industry experience

 Demonstrated organization and personnel leadership experience and competency

 Demonstrated knowledge of current silviculture science and practices, harvesting practices, soils science, infrastructure maintenance 

 Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

 Proven negotiation and networking skills

 Demonstrated project management, critical thinking, business acumen, and entrepreneurial skills

 Demonstrated planning, time management, and organizational skills

 Strong technical and analytical aptitude 

 Strong commitment to stewardship, sustainability, and ESG principles
