Job Description:

Design, coordinate, and deliver the Natural Resource Education Outreach Program targeting K-12 students at local schools, natural resource professionals, community groups, and citizens. Develop a program evaluation plan, conduct data analysis, and provide written reports. Create and manage approved social media. Competencies using standard software such as MS Office, Zoom, Excel, etc.

Develop online and in-person educational materials, hands-on lab and field exercises, and guided learning experiences related to natural resources. Provide logistical support and technical expertise necessary to conduct workshops and lead Project Learning Tree, Project WILD, and Project WET Educator and Facilitator training workshops. Conduct evaluation of activities and report results.

Develop and manage the Center’s annual operating plan and budget, submit annual report, maintain grounds and facilities, provide effective communication with stakeholders, and direct the work of hourly employees and student interns.

Work with University of Georgia faculty and natural resource professionals to develop and implement educational events and demonstration projects.

Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field.  

  • Knowledge of forestry and natural resource management. 
  • Ability to deliver technical content knowledge using appropriate in-person and online teaching methods for diverse audiences such as children, natural resource professionals, teachers, landowners, and the general public is crucial. 
  • Project Learning Tree, Project WET, Project WILD certification preferred. 
  • Possess interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; have a high degree of comfort with public speaking; willingness to perform facility maintenance tasks, travel overnight, and work evenings and weekends.
