The Technicians will collaborate with one fulltime Deer Research Technician (40 hours a week) on the following tasks: adult white-tailed deer animal husbandry, fawn animal husbandry, facility maintenance, and assisting in ongoing research projects. The workload will be shared among the staff based on animal and facility needs, ensuring a proportional distribution of responsibilities. Specific duties include: • Adult white-tail deer animal husbandry o Perform feedings o Conduct herd health checks o Report emergent animal husbandry matters o Fill out all daily corresponding documentation o Clean stalls / Pen upkeep • Fawn animal husbandry o Conduct bottle-feedings / comply with established nutritional needs o Sanitize bottle-feeding equipment o Habituate fawns to human interaction o Report emergent animal husbandry matters o Fill out all daily corresponding documentation o Clean stalls / Pen upkeep • Facility maintenance o Stack hay bales o Unload bags of feed o Pressure wash the barn o Repair fences o Mow facility pens o Weed whack o Maintain routine cleanliness o Dispose of trash o Perform as-needed facility repairs • Assisting in ongoing research projects o Project details dependent. Qualifications: You are not required or expected to have prior experience in all aspects of this role; a genuine desire to learn and complete tasks is essential. While the following qualifications are preferred, equal consideration will be given to candidates demonstrating a strong willingness to acquire new skills, problem-solving abilities, refined communication, attention to detail, and a robust collaborative and team-oriented mindset. Applicants with previous experience in any of the following: animal husbandry, a proficiency in maintenance, or production agricultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply. All applicants must be enrolled in a degree program related to one of the following fields: fisheries & wildlife, forestry, natural resource management & sustainability, animal and dairy science, or a closely related field.
