Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is seeking individuals interested in environmental education to fill a natural resources program worker position at Go Fish Education Center.

 

The center is equipped with freshwater aquariums, fishing and hunting simulator galleries, and a stocked fishing pond. The goal of the center’s education program is to deliver high-quality aquatic education programs that promote fishing opportunities and teach the importance lesson of conservation.

 

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the education coordinator with education programs, including school field trips, public programs, day camps, special events, tours, and more. The candidate selected will be required to conduct aquatic education and fishing programs, often on their own. This person will assist in caring for live animals and must be comfortable using them as teaching aids. Since the facility operates with a small staff, the ideal candidate will have a willingness and desire to learn new tasks (as needed) and maintain a teamwork mentality.

 

Other duties of the position include:

-Assisting with education program development

-Scheduling field trips and programs

-Assisting visitors as they experience the center

-Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:

Individuals should have a background in biology, wildlife conservation, environmental education, or related field. Individuals with experience fishing and working well with children are preferred. The selected candidate will be representing the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and will be expected to exhibit professionalism, honesty, customer service and reliability.

 

Miscellaneous:

This part-time position is limited to 29 hours per week and is primarily needed on Tuesdays through Fridays. The schedule may vary. This position does not include benefits. The pay rate is $13.00 per hour. Background checks will be conducted for all applicants.
