Job Description:

The Biological and Ecological Engineering and Fisheries and Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences departments at OSU are excited to announce a PhD position to work with an interdisciplinary team studying water quality, food webs, and inclusive decision -making in the Klamath Basin during and following dam removals. Research for this position will involve: 1) working with a team to collect field observations of primary producers, invertebrate worms, and macrophytes and translating them to parameters for a food web model; 2) coding new bioenergetic functions into an existing food web model; 3) help coordinate and participate in focus groups with diverse stakeholders; and 4) work with Tribal and OSU social scientists to characterize and simulate decision processes in a decision support model. This student will be co-supervised by Drs. Desiree Tullos and Jim Peterson but will engage with and support coordination of and communication amongst the broader team. Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

• An interest in learning from and working with Tribal partners

• Substantial programming experience, preferably with Stella, Python, Matlab, or similar platforms

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team situation

• A master's degree in biological or physical sciences or closely related fields.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working across disciplines and with diverse teams of stakeholders

• Knowledge of structured decision making and decision-analytic techniques, such as expert elicitation and decision modeling

• Experience with statistics and simulation models

Salary:
$26,000 yr plus tuition and health insurance
