The successful candidate will work on research assessing fire fuel loads and biomass in a mixed forest in the Southeastern United States utilizing lidar data. The assistantship is expected to start in Summer (June) or Fall (August) 2023. Qualifications: Applicants with an MF, MFR, MNR, or MS degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental resource management, or a closely related field; or a bachelor’s degree with relevant research or work experience are encouraged to apply. Programming and modeling are expected to be the core for data processing and generation of results during the development of the student research and dissertation; therefore, having previous knowledge of how to code in any programming language (including R) will be a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills, interest in field data collection, and the ability to work independently are expected. A valid U.S. driver’s license is a plus.
