Job Description:

The Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia is searching for M.S. or Ph.D.-level graduate students to conduct research related to forest business sustainability. Projects may involve harvest systems evaluation, transportation logistics, supply chain optimization, business profitability, integrating technology into forest business management, and environmental impact assessments. The specific research focus will be structured to align with the program’s goals as well as the successful candidate’s interests and strengths. Positions are available beginning Spring 2024 (January), Summer (June), or Fall (August) and include an annual stipend (MS: $22,900, PhD: $24,760) and tuition waiver. M.S. students will be funded for two years whereas Ph.D. students will be funded for three years. GRE scores are not required

Qualifications:

• MS positions: a bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental resource management, or a closely related field

• PhD positions: an MF, MFR, MNR or MS degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental resource management, environmental science, or a closely related field

• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with groups such as landowners, loggers, foresters, truck drivers, and agency, industry, and academic colleagues

• An interest in applied forestry, field data collection, and the ability to work independently

• A valid U.S. driver’s license

MS: $22,900, PhD: $24,760
