Deadline: Tue, 08/22/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: Plantation Management Research Cooperative (PMRC) at UGA Job Field: Policy/Administrative Other Job Type: Full Time Location: Georgia Location Detail: Warnell/Athens area Job Description: Position Summary This position will provide research program coordination for the Plantation Management Research Cooperative (PMRC) in the Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources. Principal responsibilities include strategic and practical planning and execution on PMRC research, administrative, and technical initiatives, preparation and tracking of budgets and accounts, liaison with cooperative members, coordination of all field activities associated with PMRC field research trials and field efforts, working closely with the PMRC field crew and faculty co-directors. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Knowledge on southern pine plantation silviculture, management and growth and yield technology. Use skills needed for effective coordination of the PMRC efforts including soils, mensuration, and experimental design expertise, statistical and modeling expertise, and familiarity with software such as R, SAS, EXCEL, and ESRI. Experienced in technical writing and preparation of technical reports and publications, possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and operate both independently and in a team environment. Knowledge of collection, editing, storage, statistical analysis, and reporting of research data and results. Physical Demands Navigate in the woods far from roads to research site locations. Lift 50lb bags of fertilizer repeatedly, heavy tree samples and equipment Travel often and extensively throughout the 10-state region of interest. Driving as needed to perform job duties. Work in hot, cold, wet climatic conditions with an assortment of insect pests present in the field. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Preferred Qualifications Prefer applicants who have completed at least a Master of Science degree in Forestry with a focus on forest biometrics and have two years’ work experience with an emphasis on forest management and biometrics.
