In our Summer 2025 Portfolio Strategy and Investments internship program, you will have a unique opportunity to join a dedicated team of industry professionals with demonstrated success developing corporate strategy and managing a world-class timber and forest products portfolio. Together, our team works to optimize the value of Weyerhaeuser’s timberland, real estate, and wood products assets and we are strengthened by our diverse perspectives each of us bring from our backgrounds in forestry, economics, corporate finance, investment banking, geospatial analysis, and real-estate. You will also be able to network with other Weyerhaeuser interns, employees, and leaders and participate in fun team events and volunteer opportunities. 

As a Weyerhaeuser Portfolio Strategy and Investments intern, you can expect to:

  • Gain valuable experience in timberland valuation analysis
  • Build a professional network through collaborating with professionals well-versed in forestry and financial analysis
  • Build interpersonal and communication skills
  • Learn progressive practices from an industry leader and explore career interest in forestry and finance
  • Work alongside experienced timberland investment managers and interact with our timberlands and real estate teams

Our interns are key contributors to our daily work as they build knowledge and skills in a variety of forestry and financial valuation capacities, including:

  • Investment analysis and advanced financial modeling
  • Timberland analysis using GIS applications
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and database analysis

Education: Current enrollment in an undergraduate (at least Junior year) or graduate degree program focused on Forestry, Forest Finance, Finance or closely related field

Teamwork: You support others without being asked for help, are a team player, and know how to win together

Curiosity: You have a track record of proactively identifying potential issues and opportunities through analytical thinking and offering meaningful recommendations that address the root cause rather than symptoms

Judgement: You use your professional judgement to operate in gray areas and can make and own difficult decisions

Organization: You prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining critical attention to detail to meet and beat required deadlines

Communication: You have strong verbal and written skills

Our internship program lasts ten weeks with flexible starting and ending dates. Weyerhaeuser offers a hybrid work structure, where employees work three days in the office (Tuesday through Thursday) and two days remotely. Priority will be given to candidates who, at the time of the internship, are one year away from starting their careers. Successful internships can lead to full time offers of post-graduation employment.
