The Environmental Psychology Innovation Center (EPIC) in the Biology Department at the University of Miami (Go Canes!) is recruiting for two positions to begin October 2025 (or sooner):

 

1) Postdoctoral Associate – Cadmium Toxicity Project

This project investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying cadmium toxicity.

 

2) Research Associate – Firefighter Health Project

This project explores the transgenerational impact of fire-related contaminants on firefighter health including cancer.

 

Environment: Both positions are led by Dr. Delia Shelton at EPIC, which integrates biology and environmental psychology to address pressing environmental health challenges. By joining the lab, the individuals will be members of a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive research community with opportunities to lead and collaborate on new research directions. They will be mentored in all aspects of the scientific process including experimental design, data analysis, teaching, mentoring, culture of belonging practices, proposal preparation, manuscript submission, disseminating results.  Applicants from disenfranchised identities, and those with interest in animal behavior and toxicology are especially encouraged to apply. The initial appointment is for one year and maybe renewed upon satisfactory performance.

Qualifications: Candidates with experience in the following are especially encouraged to apply: RNA-seq, qRT-PCR, Bisulfite sequencing, TUNEL staining, Oxidative stress assays, ICP-MS, histology, sperm motility, oocyte assays, animal behavior, and zebrafish. Strong written and oral communication, scientific integrity, and interpersonal skills are required. A PhD in a relevant field is required for the postdoc position, and a BS is required for the research associate position.
