The successful applicant should possess an interest in waterfowl, avian, and wetlands ecology and management and work with collaborating researchers and managers from MSU, (www.cfr.msstate.edu/kennedychair) Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks (MDWFP; http://www.mdwfp.com/waterfowl), and several other collaborative partners. Opportunities exist to join motivated staff and students for the development of new studies impacting waterfowl conservation, help analyze various waterfowl datasets (existing or new), participate in field studies, author and co-author manuscripts, assist with supervision of graduate students, gain teaching experience if interested, and continue to work in areas of waterfowl and wetlands research per your interests. Qualifications: Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. degree in wildlife or wetlands ecology, statistics, or other relevant disciplines* (*Ph.D. students who have completed all degree requirements, including defended their dissertation, and await degree conveyance can also be considered. Documentation that requirements are completed and date degree will be conveyed is required). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Examples of specific skills of the ideal candidate would include experience with program MARK, resource selection functions (e.g., utilization distributions), Bayesian statistics, proficiency in Program R, and GIS/ArcMap. There is a latitude for the individual to develop their own research interests related to waterfowl and wetland ecology, such as obtaining and analyzing datasets currently residing beyond MSU. Regardless, the ideal candidate will have strong quantitative skills. This position will enhance your skillset and subsequent career in wildlife or statistical ecology.
